Process Paper
This topic is unique and special to my group because we have grown up watching Walt Disney’s’ animated cartoons that have changed and evolved over a period of time. Walt Disney is a very interesting subject to choose and talk about because most people who watch his famous films are familiar with this topic. Not many students would dare to choose the topic we chose because of the lack of resources and information. Since the day that my group started our National History Day project, we have found many helpful resources such as recorded interviews, videos, books, pictures, and letters.
Our research started off with interviews with one of the group members grandparents’ who were alive during the time that Walt Disney had changed the way we watched cartoons and animated films. During the interview, we gained many resources that were valuable to this project, such as handwritten and typed letters from and to Walter Elias Disney. Drawings of his early cartoons and pictures of a variety of things were one of the many resources we were able to get. Personal experiences to his amusement parks have also helped us gain better research about this topic. Watching many of Walt Disney’s’ famous animations gave us an understanding of how films have slowly evolved.
Having family members with trained knowledge of the correct usage of technology, we easily conducted our presentation category, which is a group website. My group started the creation of the project by choosing the topic we have wanted to research. Knowing that all of us has a worthwhile relation to Disney and their films we were able to create a website based off of the amount of reliable research found such as; history, biography, and differences amongst the amusement parks. The information was later categorized amongst a tab that talks about different ideas. The group searched for usable multimedia as a primary resource. Videos and real-life pictures that were taken are being displayed on the website.
My group agrees that our project relates to the National History Day theme because Walter Disney was a major turning point in history for many reasons. He changed the lives of millions of people with his shows and famous amusement parks. He inspired kids of all ages with the messages that were sent out to them through his films. The entertainment industry was impacted tremendously, as well as many other industries. He was a great and talented man and is still remembered every day for all his success.
